biography of terry hardless

Terry Hardless (nee Lewin) was born and raised in Abbotsford, B.C. She completed her studies with Anna Toews, for both piano and vocal, and Dreda Luesley, for theory.
Terry began teaching in 1970, in the Abbotsford area, and by the time she married in 1979 she was well known in the community. In 1981 Terry moved to Mission, B.C. where she opened the large "School of Music" and had several teachers working under her supervision. It was during this time that she refined her unique teaching methods.

In 1988 Terry moved to Coquitlam, B.C., with her husband (Hugh) and their three children (Ebony, Clementine and Nathan). She then continued operating her School of Music in Mission until 1995, while at the same time beginning classes in Coquitlam. In 1996 Terry became the Representative for the Royal Conservatory of Music, and continues to do so to date. From 1998 to 2002 Terry was the Director for the Tri-City Choir. Terry completed her theory workbook and answer book series entitled: "Theory Made Easy The 'Hardless' Way" in 2002. These theory books are becoming well known by teachers and music stores throughout British Columbia and Alberta. This is also when “Terry Hardess Publishing” began operation.

Terry has also just completed a cookbook entitled: "The Best From Terry’s Kitchen”. Many of her students enjoyed tasting her samples. Terry has also composed many piano and vocal pieces, which are available for sample viewing in her store. She continues to enjoy teaching 50 students or more per week at the “Hardless Music Studio”. Even more, she enjoys working with the other teachers, her own children! She has been teaching for 35 years and has no plans to slow down – in teaching, composing or publishing!
